Pack your picnic and bring the whole family down to the War Memorial Park for a day of free performances, live music and activities. There will be aerial circus, acrobatics, juggling, bands, balloon modelling, walkabout acts and a poetry takeaway at this free and exciting outdoor event! Below is a taster of what will be happening on the day. Full details and a schedule will be advertised closer to the time on both the Basingstoke Festival website and our website. Don't forget, you can also keep up to date by following us on Facebook and Twitter, and by signing up to our e-newsletter. MOLLY ORANGE - PUB - A new circus-sitcom! Set in a failing old fashioned boozer, our PUB landlord and landlady have a big decision to make. Go hipster or go hungry. PUB is a farcical look at how gentrification hits its communities hard, and the choice we have between clinging on to the past or chasing the zeitgeist. Featuring acrobatics, juggling, the odd pint of Guinness and a fiery finale. THE FLYING BAZAZI BROTHERS - Bounding on to the stage like Wham in cheap suits after drinking too much Lucozade, this riotous double act dance, juggle and fall over each other for your viewing pleasure. Featuring internationally renowned superstar Edward Bazazi and his slightly less well known but equally talented brother, Kaveh Bazazi, prepare to be amazed, prepare to be dazzled and prepare to wonder why they don't just quit while they're ahead. CIRCUS GEEKS - PROJECT_VEE - Roulette wheel meets juggling: danger, skill and unpredictable moments. Project_Vee is a nod to a Sovietera circus act, remixed for the 21st century. Steel, concrete and motors meet in an unlikely way; Project_Vee takes juggling to a different dimension. Literally. BRASS JUNKIES - The Brass Junkies will be performing New Orleans style pop and funk classics in the tradition of the finest American street bands. Their band members have played with some of the best in the business including Kasabian, Tom Jones, Kelis, and Muse in venues such as The Royal Albert Hall, Glastonbury main stage and ?Later' with Jools Holland. You can be certain that this high-energy, goodtime music will add to the day's lively atmosphere. BALLOONATIC - Watch out there's a Balloonatic about! Back by popular demand these colourful characters will be on hand throughout the day decorating people with incredible hats, giant sculptures and hilarious costumes all made entirely out of balloons. If you are really lucky you could even have a go at making your own balloon dog! They are undisputedly the UK's most extravagant balloon artists! THE POETRY TAKEAWAY - MOBILE POETRY EMPORIUM - Our talented team of poet chefs will carefully craft a free personalised poem for you, perform it and wrap it up to take-away. Everything is prepared fresh on the premises, and we guarantee tears, laughter and everything in-between. Slots get booked up quickly, so come early!
