For three days at the end of the summer, the Queen Elizabeth Hall and Purcell Room will be filled with the sounds of Italy in Festa Italiana. This year's Early Music Weekend celebrates the music of the Italian Renaissance and Baroque periods. Highlights include a recital by acclaimed cellist Christophe Coin, beautiful medieval madrigals from Mala Punica, a recently discovered Mass setting performed by the Huelgas Ensemble, and a colourful programme of carnival songs and dances from Associate Artists the New London Consort.
