Presented by over 20 regional amateur companies working with professional staff from The Nuffield, Open Stages is a unique, 6-night festival celebrating Shakespeare. Each performance offers a different selection of extracts from plays he wrote or inspired others to write. Encompassing a diverse and innovative range of productions (MUCH ADO in modern naval dress, HAMLET as a Humble boy in the English countryside, TWELFTH NIGHT presented by young people) the festival offers a compelling insight into Shakespeare's place in contemporary theatre culture. Come for one night, come for all 6. Come and see the kaleidoscope of work Shakespeare continues to inspire us to make.
