26 events involving 75 Australian perfrmers, including Music Theatre Sydney with the one-man show Casanova Confined, by Andrew Ford, performed by Lyndon Terracini, Spitalfields Market Opera in the children's opera Sid, the Serpent Who Wanted to Sing, by Malcolm Fox, a concert performance of Riders to the Sea, by Fritz Hart, written at the beginning of this century, and the first opera composed in Australia, Don John of Austria, dating from 1847 and written by Isaac Nathan.
