It's here: Jacksons Lane's summer festival of performance by the world's most mind-bendingly, nail-bitingly, bum-clenchingly exciting circus, cabaret and theatre artists. It's London's only Pay What You Want festival. That means you book tickets for free and pay what you think it's worth after. It's a bit of a power dynamic switcheroo. Fun, right? Expect London's brightest emerging circus artists experimenting with radical new ideas; expect international super-talents and homegrown supremos. Expect mixed bills hosted by the champions of the circus and cabaret scene, each with little black books full of bawdy, bonkers, brilliant artists. The vibes are buzzy, and they get even buzzier as the Postcards Punch flows and each night's specially curated soundtrack plays. So bring your mates, fill your cup, sit back and get ready for a big one.

Circus Cabaret and Extraordinary Performance - T024033467

Now in its third year, Jacksons Lane's Postcards is fast becoming the hot ticket of the circus and cabaret calendar. This year is no exception, with over two weeks of exclusive work and awe-inspiring performances. For the very first time, The Double R Club, London's cabaret kings, leave their usual home of Bethnal Green Working Men's Club and head to Highgate to open Postcards. With Benjamin Louche hosting and appearances from Betsy Bon Bon and Desmond O'Connor, as well as many more, The Double R Club's signature dark, delicious and naughty cabaret is the perfect start to the festival. Magic and juggling feature prominently in this year's festival with grumpy, hilarious and dog-loving Piff the Magic Dragon bringing his solo show, gentleman juggler and cabaret star Mat Ricardo and and Finnish silent magician Robert Jagerhorn performing in the UK for the very first time. Following last year's sell-out show, Circus Space is coming back with a new crop of Lab:Time performances. Featuring brand new circus works from aerial specialists Osborne & What, clown Daniel Gon?alves and trick roller-skaters Bella Kinetica, this exciting mix bill is sure to be another raving success. The UK's premier all female street theatre company Mimbre is re-working their show Falling Up as a promenade performance in the different spaces of Jacksons Lane. A physical tale of four women who celebrate what makes them unique; Falling Up is energetic, funny and beautiful. In perfect Postcards style, the closing night extravaganza is guest hosted by two internationally-renowned and massively popular cabaret stars. Marawa the Amazing and Piff the Magic Dragon present Piff & Marawa's Novelty Hourawa with some of the world's best, weird and wonderful performers. With a circus double bill from Inverted and Bikes and Rabbits, stunning Chinese pole and lightening performances from French company i19, glam ?twisted rock cabaret' from Marcus Reeves and alternative comedy from Andrew O'Neill, this year's festival is jammed full of inventive, funny and impressive performances.

Circus Cabaret and Extraordinary Performance - T776645825

Building on Jacksons Lane’s growing reputation as a home for physical and visually-led performance in London, this brand new festival of mixed bills and new commissions combines new work from over nineteen companies and performers, including Francesca Martello, Bryony Kimmings, Wendy Houstoun and Edward Rapley with aerial performances from Zu Aerial, Inverted Dance and Gisele Edwards and trampoline, clowning, circus and the downright unusual from the likes of Dodgy Whiskers, Ponydance, Frederike, Tumble Circus and Slingshot among others. The ever flamboyant Bryony Kimmings’ Seven Day Drunk was created during a week of intoxication with a team of scientists and a documentary film maker, looking at the dangerous obsessions we have in life and the link between booze and creativity. Edward Rapley’s 10 Ways To Die On Stage mixes standup with story telling, live art and clowning to explore childhood memories and adult loss, while the brilliantly original Wendy Houstoun presents 50 Acts, exploring the idea of action via "Manifestos, Small Dances, Invisibility, Stupidity and much more". One of the few London venues dedicated to visually led and physical work, this year Jacksons Lane celebrates 35 years in North London. For the last three of these, the venue has developed a vibrant programme of contemporary circus and visual theatre, offering support to some 40 companies, specializing in the small to mid scale. Postcards gives a platform to both and new and established circus and performance artists to create new work, with scratch, solo and short performances.
