Already known for their commitment to supporting new, visual work, CPT's SPRINT, profiles the work of eleven hugely talented companies with the aim of promoting and supporting new artists, alongside workshops and 'Friday Focus' discussions with leading exponents of physical theatre such as Cal McCrystal, John Wright and Jonathan Kay. The four week festival includes performances by Instant Classics, who bring their gore-soaked horror theatre to An Evening of Grand Gui'gnol, Clowns Anonymous in Competition in which the rivalry between two unlikely athletes escalates into an hilarious test of physical and endurance. Jonathan Kay will spend three days working with Festival participants to create a new, unique performance - Know One's Fool - and Blind Summit Theatre Company blast us into space with visually stunning theatre in the Spacemen. Back down to earth, but only just. Labyrinth Theatre swing through scaffolding bars in The Jungle with their unique adaptation of Jungle Book, a twist on Rudyard Kipling's tale. Adorning present Converting Maidenhood, a devised opera. Unlimited Theatre perform Edinburgh hit Static, and the lovely Maybellene wows us all with her astonishing wardrobe. Camden People's Theatre are producing two shows themselves: The Necklace, from Maupassant's classic tale, and Keepin' It Real, a dance and music-filled production on the subject of peer-pressure, from hearing and non-hearing young people from cpt's Youth Theatre As part of the SPRIMT Festival, CPT in association with Total Theatre Network also present a series of discussions, workshops and training days. Two free afternoon discussions 'Is British Physical Theatre Alternative?' and 'Is There an Audience for Fringe Theatre?' introduce a host of practitioners including David Jubb (BAC), David Lavender (Komedia), Joseph Seeling (London International Mime Festival) and John Freeman (De Montford University). One Step Beyond provides new companies with the opportunity to learn how to fund and tour their work from speakers including Martin Suherland, Philip Speding, Sophie Balch, Shreela Ghosh.
