The Music of Conlon Nancarrow

The Music of Conlon NancarrowT0
Celebrate the experimental brilliance of Conlon Nancarrow in our unique weekend festival. Southbank Centre, the London Sinfonietta and Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance present a weekend festival celebrating the pioneering music of Conlon Nancarrow, one of America's foremost composers of the 20th-century. Nancarrow's virtuosic works are at once enigmatic and inspirational. He is perhaps best known for his extraordinary studies for player-piano, pieces unplayable by human hands. We explore the music of this free-thinking composer with orchestral and chamber arrangements of these pieces performed by the London Sinfonietta and the Arditti String Quartet. You can also hear the entirety of Nancarrow's player-piano studies performed over the weekend by the player-piano itself.
