Burlesque

BurlesqueT0
America. 1952. The war in Korea grinds on as McCarthy s anti-Communist witch-hunts reach their peak. Meanwhile, in a run-down Burlesque Theater, popular comedian Johnny Reno is trying to keep a low profile. Blacklisted for not co-operating with the authorities, Johnny is rapidly running out of options. Until a chance to clear his name at once promises to save him and threatens to tear his world apart. When a country goes insane - someone has to make a stand. A tale of sex, politics, persecution and the birth of the culture of terror. Burlesque fizzes along with all the energy and pizazz of showbiz, bursting with quickfire gags and snappy songs. Its fast, funny, sexy and ultimately, heart-breaking.
