Little Women archiveSet in New England during the Civil War, Reverend March is away ministering to the Federal troops. He leaves behind in Concord, Massachusetts matriarch Mrs March (Marmee) with their four daughters, Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy who through the course of the musical turn from young girls into women. Eldest daughter Jo is headstrong, tomboy like, passionate and an aspiring writer. Despite her protestations she works for her wealthy Aunt March as a lady s companion bringing in much needed funds for the family. In her spare time she writes stories in the little attic room, dreaming of becoming a famous writer. It is Jo who puts pen to paper and weaves the tale of her sister s trials and tribulations as they grow up experiencing poverty, love, friendship and the importance of family.
