User Review: 11Jan01: I think they did trememdous job! Do not listen to the uptight critics...Go see it for yourself and you will be signing the songs for weeks. User Review: 11Jan01: 26 May 2000 Absolutly stunning performance from every body from the gorgeous Tina Arena, right through to the amazingly fit and co-ordinated dancers. I may not be a proper theatre buff, but as far as i can say this was one of the most amazing performances that i have ever seen, i think that was quite clearly shown by the crowds reaction not just by the 'lengthy!' standing ovation and encores etc, but how many shows have you seen where the crowd has applauded and cheered each and every scene from start to finish with as much appreciation as was totally apparent on Friday. How any one can do anything but praise the shear guts and willingness of the cast is totally beyond my belief. Maybe you big city critics need to drop back to earth and learn a little. When the correct word about this perfomance gets out the tickets will be booked for years, so if you want to see it, do it now. User Review: 11Jan01: Excellent energy from the performer and also stunning singersl. Unconventional costumes which is a bit confusing about the time of the story. User Review: 11Jan01: Wonderful! Give them a standing ovation at the end like we did on Saturday night. User Review: 11Jan01: Writer Luc Plamondon and composer Richard Cocciante have taken one of the world's best-known stories and turned it into a nonsensical, through-sung procession of Europop ditties, re-upholstered with buttock-clenchingly clumsy English lyrics by Will Jennings. Director Gilles Maheu's staging is reminiscent of a TV summer special, favouring an endless parade of flick-flacking dancers over content or coherence. Anyone who pays £37.50 to watch this has every right to get the hump. By comparison, Disney's animated film is a masterpiece of slavish literary faithfulness. User Reviews
