Singer, kora player, storyteller and balafonist, N'Faly Kouyate is a highly accomplished musician. Born to a famous family of griots in the Mandingue, and formed in the rigorous traditions of the artists of West Africa, he is also deeply involved in universal forms of music. He has given electrifying performances at festivals throughout the world, from Glastonbury to the Summerstage in New York City with the Afro Celt Sound System, whose CDs have received universal acclaim. Since 1997, he has performed jazz with the Chris Joris Experience. But his true heart lies in his own ensemble, Dunyakan (The Voice of the World) in which blues, world music, jazz and the traditional music of Guinea are intermingled. N'Faly's compositional skills, and his ideals and dreams, give Dunyakan a profound identity.
