The story of 'Dido and Aeneas' is drawn form classical legend and is a story of epic proportions, relating the downfall of Carthage through love, politics and envy. The legend of Faust, a worldly man seduced by the devil into selling his soul, has provided inspiration in all areas of musical and dramatic art.
