Insomnia
T897352896
Insomnia is a staged version of composer Manfred Trojahn's new song-cycle for soprano and piano, setting 18 early love-poems by Rainer Maria Rilke for the poet's first lover Lou Andreas-Salome. At the time of writing Rilke was 22, Lou 36. Their actual love-affair lasted only four years, but their intense friendship and exchange of thoughts and feelings, immediate or in letter form, continued for a further twenty-five, right up to Rilke's death from Leukaemia in 1926.
