Orpheus in the Underworld

T0938315349
Orpheus' trip to the Underworld to recover Eurydice. First performed in 1858 and perhaps the first ever full-length classical operetta, this opera is perhaps most famous for the 'Can Can', or as it is properly called, 'The Infernal Gallop'.

Production details

Sung in English. Orpheus and Eurydice's marriage is in trouble. He's a musician, but she can't stnd the noise, so she sets off to the underworld. Meanwhile, on Mount Olympus, the gods are bored, and sick of the notoriously randy Jupiter who's the only one who ever seems to have any fun. They fancy a break and before long everybody's gone to hell.
