W11 are the sole opera company commissioning and producing new works for young people. This appearance at the Linbury Studio Theatre marks their 30th anniversary. The 70-strong cast, aged between 9 and 18, will give four performances in a work to be announced. The company has commissioned 24 new works from such composers as Karl Jenkins, George Fenton, Timothy Kraemer and Cecilia McDowall among others. It has the distinction of commissioning more works than any other opera company in the UK since its founding in 1971.
