Details

Inspired by Gary Larson's The Far Side cartoons and the dark undertow of the paintings of Paula Rego, especially her Dog Women series, Lying with the Animals teeters on the edge of theatre, cabaret and live art in a double bill of performance. Steven Whinnery creates extraordinary masks worn by a small company of performers in this humourous piece evoking an off-kilter world where the line between animal and human forms is mischievously blurred. Sharing the bill is performer/composer Jonathan Stone, returning to the South Bank with the premiere of a new solo shop ppp. A slow piano piece, played quietly, in a performance about listening, singing and being heard in a loud world. Best known as half of the duo ralf ralf Stone is renowned for his groundbreaking integration of physical theatre, dance, and voice, as well as a composer for site-specific Dance Umbrella events and Arc Dance Company.
