This year, the theme for the SPARK project has been ‘The Journey’. Pupils and artists have worked together to create a host of exciting performances and beautiful artwork! Now in its 5th year, the SPARK project continues to work closely with six Newport Primary Schools: Alway, Millbrook, Pillgwenlly, Ringland, Somerton and Duffryn. Over 700 pupils have worked with a host of artists in a wide range of performing and visual art disciplines, culminating in a fantastic evening performance and an excellent exhibition. SPARK has been Provident Financial’s flagship education programme and over the last five years has enabled The Riverfront to work with nine primary schools and over 4,600 primary school pupils. This year’s celebratory events look set to be a creative wonder, so come and celebrate the incredible talent of Newport Primary School pupils!

Schools exhibit their visual arts in the gallery and showcase an exciting assortment of drumming, dance and drama performances in the theatre. This year’s celebratory events look set to be an artistic triumph of sound and vision set around the theme of Newport in the World, ’Our Heritage’. SPARK is Provident Financial’s flagship education programme taking place across the UK and Republic of Ireland. Of the eight theatres involved, The Riverfront is the only theatre in Wales engaging children in exciting visual and performance opportunities throughout the year.
