The Johnny Eck and Dave Toole Show
T0
Johnny Eck is best known for his performance in Tod Browning's 1932 classic film FREAKS. Eck was an American freak show performer born without the lower half of his torso. Last year Dave Toole, a dancer, choreographer and performer from Leeds flew high above London in the opening ceremony for the Paralympics. The next day his image was plastered across almost every newspaper in the UK and throughout the world making him one of Leeds' most prolific exports. This in many ways is the least of what he has done. THE JOHNNY ECK AND DAVE TOOLE SHOW is a story about them both. One of Leeds most inventive and celebrated theatre companies Slung Low brings together two of Leeds' leading artists, Dave Toole and Mark Catley. THE JOHNNY ECK AND DAVE TOOLE SHOW is created with all the bravery, daring and splendor of Slung Low. This is a story about Leeds performed where the old city collides with the new, performed within in the Tiltyard, the vast outdoor arena of the Royal Armouries Museum
