Details
The time: 1942, The place: somewhere on the edge of a city. These people have been travelling, much of the time reluctantly confined. They have nothing in common but their sweaty clothes, tattered cardboard suitcases and funny sounding names. They have some from Europe, where they say now is the worst time and the worst place to be alive.
1942 is a work made by students studying performance at De Montfort University, with Alison Andrews, artistic director of A Quiet Word. It is an exploration of the role of story telling in identity - for individuals and nations - in times of uncertainty and change.
