Alan's Wife

Written in the 1890's, Alan's Wife is a brilliant psychological and physical study of a young woman's character, the controversial subject matter of which caused outrage at the time. It tells the story of a young recently married women who is suddenly widowed and left with a new born baby. The play confronts what even today is still the ultimate taboo, a mother who commits the ultimate crime, infanticide.
