It's 1941 and Irene, Beryrl, Edna and Gladys work in the bandage room at Robinson's of Chesterfield. Keeping the home fires burning and trying to stay the right side of their supervisor, the girls are waiting for their call up, missing their loved ones, working dawn 'til dusk and finding the courage to be strong enough to wait their turn in the perm club. Remember a time when a kick of the pantry door might be all you got for your tea, a glass of 'Compo' cured what ailed you and courage could be called upon everyday.
