Set against the dramatic landscape of Iceland, Paul remembers his childhood, where his playground was more than often the palace-shaped psychiatric hospital by the sea. Years later, as an inmate, he examines the past; angels and ghosts, friends and enemies, as he gradually succumbs to the terrors of mental illness and the equally horrific treatment applied to its sufferers.
