Anna Cappelli archivethis is a black story of love and murder. Anna Cappelli's last text is an unsettling work. The story originated from a true crime story in which a Japanese man murders a young girl from Holland and "ne mangia la sua carne" (eats her flesh). Ruccello tells a story of sentiments, or of senses, that culminate in a paroxysm: the love of he who devours his own lover savouring the sweet flavor of complete and total possession. The emphasis in this work is the author's use of ritual. It is a gesture that has an ancient and "primitive" quality and in the moment it powerfully enters our subconscious it unhinges the conventions that define the modern epoch. To experience the work Anna Cappelli by Annibale Ruccello, an author who passed away prematurely, is an enchanting adventure. It is fascinating to discover how Ruccello gives direction to a thousand meanings and imbibes his words with a profound and sometimes hidden emotional density. Anna Cappelli meets a rich accountant. They fall in love and she moves in with him at a time when cohabitation is not common practice. Two years pass, and suddenly her lover informs her that he no longer wants to live with her. This triggers a crisis for Anna. It is an unexpected betrayal and she cannot handle the separation. Anna becomes the prey of the crisis of the heart. She decides to kill her lover and to preserve his body inside her: to eat him. Successively, with the flames of candles she has fashioned from his bones she destroys the house where she had once been so happy with him. "Anna Cappelli overthrows every common sense in order to at last reach purification".
