Theatre Uncut arranges this writing season, asking established and emerging playwrights to write new pieces based on some form of political issue that is affecting us in the UK and worldwide. The theme this year 'Do we all get more right wing in times of austerity?' Some hard hitting, truthful and jaw dropping writing here!

The Wing - A father supporting the English Defense League with an activist daughter; this family have a lot of catching up to do. "Wait til you're my age and they've taken all your jobs, all your housing, all your welfare, and you're meant to sit about like some...PRICK!" Project N.I.G.H.T. - A politician is writing a speech on new plans to remove illegal immigrants from Britain. We are introduced to various potential illegal's working in his home until he has some unexpected visitors. "This project will....rid this country of the scourge of the foreign immigrant scrounger." Pick One - Three Americans discuss which of the races in America should be demolished to bring greater good to white Americans. "if you get rid of the blacks you're talking about a lot more stuff out there for everybody". True or False - A provoking piece questioning our selective historical memory; challenging the audience to play a key role in deciding a persons fate. "It's true that welfare has turned us into a nation of scroungers, too lazy to find work." Amanda - An account that portrays a female politician as a human being. "you can watch from the sidelines and have your principles but even your principles aren't immune to the laws of the market." Capitalism - A story of how money can corrupt. Church forced to put up gates after font is used as a wash basin by migrants by Mark Thomas. A newspaper owner prints stories that turn the nation against migrants. He inevitably suffers shameful consequences. "Immigrants are shit. EU is shit. BBC is shit.... Our readers want to pick up this paper, see the front page and think CUNTS!"
