'Bed on Bricks' is inspired by the role that myths have played in the construction of South African identities. Lindiza combine text, improvisation, strong physicality, music and slide projection to retell South African Stories for today. Drawing on a variety of sources including contemporary newspaper cuttings, tribal legends and traditions, and urban myths the company journey through light and dark, drought and thunderstorm. Lindiza (the Xhosa word for mielie - the South African word for corn stalks) are a new South African company, made up of young professional South Africans. All the performers are aged between nineteen and twenty-five and come from a range of backgrounds - Xhosa, Sotho, Cape Coloured, Afrikaans and English.
