Teatro Internacional De Cabo Verde in association with Muse Theatre presents a reading of Behind The Hoe, a brand new play written by Mark Norfolk based on Cape Verdean author Baltazar Lopes' renowned novel Chiquinho. The novel was published in Portuguese in 1947, becoming the first novel to be published by a Cape Verdean author and is not only noted for its revealing portrait of island life but for its use of indigenous Creole within the Portuguese language.
