An event that will be as unique in its quantity as it will be in its diversity of writing. 10 new short plays by graduates of David Edgar's prestigious play-writing programme. With subjects ranging from kidnapped cats to terrorists in training, ghostly rodents to revolutionary politics, Bite Sized 2 offers a unique opportunity to sample the work of some of the most talented young playwrights the UK has to offer with THREE nights of semi-staged performances. Writers include: Phil King has written and directed plays for the Pleasance Islington (The Big Half, the small ha'f), Theatro Technis Camden (After the Garden) and The Smirnoff Underbelly Edinburgh (Hospitals and Other Buildings That Catch Fire). Derek Martin’s adaptation of Treasure Island was performed at Eye Castle, Suffolk. Kitty McDonald’s Ana's Story was performed as part of the Transmissions festival at the Birmingham Rep. Alan McKendrick has worked as a translator on The Riot Group's German production of Pugilist Specialist (Theater Der Welt, Stuttgart). His play The James Dean Death Scene toured to the Tron and Traverse in April 2006. He is currently under commission for The Arches, Glasgow. Lisa Parry’s poetry and prose have been extensively published in leading new writing magazines, including Orbis, The New Writer, Aesthetica and Iota.
