Blow Down archiveA funny and poignant play which marks the recent demolition of the iconic cooling towers at Ferrybridge Power Station, in the words of those who lived and worked beneath them. Scripted by award-winning playwright Garry Lyons and based on stories collected from the local community in Ferrybridge and Knottingley, Blow Down is an hilarious, gritty and thought-provoking show with music about a typical post-industrial Yorkshire town. From the raucous seventies to recession and decline in the 2000s, it tells the tale of the area through the experiences of people who've lived there, offering surprising insights, authenticity and humour.

User Review: 14Feb23: I went to see this in Leeds not knowing what to expect, took my dad... We both had a great time and my dad loved it more than me, funny poignant and thought provoking. And very relevant to some of the thing happening in the world today. An extremely talented cast, switching from one character to the next with ease. Nicky Filshie and Allison Saxton, both giving stand out performances as two 'scotch' women trying to eek out a life in Yorkshire. Some hilarious moments from them both. Luke Adamson was also excellent as jack of all trades, and keeping it rhythmical on the drums. Matt Bugg is energetic, with the occasional Glitch and freeze frame, and a liking for false teeth. But the stand out for me was Matt Booth, with his casual and gentle approach of the long suffering cooling tower worker who realises his life wasn't that bad back in the halcyon days of better wages and overtime. Lots of interjections from audience members as their memories are jogged of days gone by. A thouroughly enjoyable evening I would be happy to repeat.
