Fed up with always being the token gay guy and tired of his effeminate mannerisms ("I'm so girly I nearly have periods"), Menno decides it's time to 'butch up' get in touch with his masculine side. This becomes especially important when he falls head over high heels for a closeted, black, ultra-masculine, straight-acting army captain who hates anything camp or even slightly 'gay'.
