Charlie's Wake archiveCharlie Rafferty has nothing. Rapidly approaching old age and living with his sister in a house he should have inherited, his biggest regret is that he has lost his only child, Kathleen, who has moved to England and wants nothing to do with him. Crippled by pride, he is nonetheless desperate to talk to her and make up for the past. After a drunken night out with his undertaker friend Jimmy, Charlie hits upon a plan to get her back he must fake his own death. A one-act play set in Dublin, Charlie's Wake examines the breakdown of the family, fear of growing old and the importance of a well-fitted coffin.
