Christie in Love

Christie in LoveT01427046950
Christie in Love is a unique telling of the events leading up to the murder of seven women and the subsequent hanging of John Reginald Christie; a story which gripped and shocked the tabloid-reading public of post-war Britain. Without seeking to over dramatise these events, Howard Brenton succeeds in depicting the brutality of murder in both surreal and real terms. The juxtaposition of comedy and violence makes for an unsettling, macabre experience, leaving the audience to draw its own conclusions.

Production details

The subject matter of Christie in Love is not for the faint-hearted but it is still relevent, particularly in the light of recent cases such as Hindley, West and Shipman.

User Review: 01May01: A fantastically acted and well crafted production. The direction was spellbinding the acting consumate. Scott Bushell as the Inspector gave us a tour de force while Christopher Routh as the Constable played the innocent policeman with surity and clarity. Jez Foster as Christie himself was beautifully understated and didn't resort to characacture when it would have been so easy to do so.
