Aristophanes' vicious, satirical attack on Socrates and his nebulous scientism is as relevant and funny today as it was two thousand years ago. When a rustic farmer tries to avoid paying his debts by becoming a philosopher, he unwittingly unleashes chaos on the city of Athens. Enticed by the false promises of the sinister Clouds he spurns his old way of life to join the pasty-faced students of Socrates' 'thinkery'. It soon becomes apparent, however, that in doing so he has debased himself and corrupted his son.
