In this story we discover that Marlowe did not indeed die in a supposed bar brawl but that he left the country and has spent his remaining days in Europe. His life has been exotic, dangerous, full of colour and excess, but now we learn what he really thinks and feels as his life comes to its inevitable conclusion.
