Chris Hannan's play, written in 1985, is a contemporary classic, set against the Glasgow rent strike of 1915. Its heroine, the proud, eponymous Elizabeth Gordon Quinn, would rather starve than give up her precious piano; although she can't play a note it sets her apart from her impoverished neighbours, or so she thinks
