Feydeau Double Bill - Madame's Late Mother/A House Bath archiveTwo classics of French comedy based on the simplest misunderstandings, in a translation by Echange Theatre. A House Bath: at night Madame wants to have a bath, being prepared with much attention by the maid. When Madame changes her mind, the maid decides she might as well have one when suddenly Monsieur comes back... Madame's Late Mother: at 4 o'clock in the morning a row: she wants to sleep, he comes back from a party. Suddenly the doorbell rings... The Genius of French comedy brought back to the London Stage for the first time in thirty years in translations by Echange Theatre. Georges Feydeau made France laugh through his vaudevillian farces and, in the process, dominated the genre. Some have seen in Feydeau a precursor of Dadaism, surrealism, and the absurd. In the sixties Feydeau was brought to the London stage, but has rarely been performed since. Echange Theatre is the only company in London to translate and produce forgotten French plays such as this and bring them to the stage.
