Finding Beulah, is first and foremost a love story - one that spans history as the principal character sets out to find the soul-mate. She appears at key moments in the history of Black people (Egypt 2000BC, Ghana 1600s, Georgia 1928, Tobago 1948, Harlem 1970) and ultimately faces many questions about herself that we must all face in the real world: who we are; where we come from and what it all means to us in modern Britain. Her journey ends some fifteen years into our future when the couple must finally face their destiny or be lost to each other forever.
