Furious Folly archiveWhile the thunder of the batteries rumbled in the distance... we searched for an elementary art that would, we thought, save mankind from the furious folly of these times. Hans Arp, founder of the Dadaist movement Art, war and insanity on a grand scale.Furious Folly takes place as night falls, in a no-man's land on the battle front between two lines. Taking place in the centenary year of the battle of the Somme, Furious Folly creates an evocative, disorientating war-torn landscape from sound, light and pyrotechnics. Drawing on the anti-war spirit of the Dadaist artists of the time, this powerful and poignant open-air performance has been created by Mark Anderson, the artist behind the internationally renowned Power Plant. Anderson and his team have made a unique show that rails against the futility and madness of the Great War, and challenges the inhumanity and senselessness of conflicts past and present.
