The Community is disturbed by the corruption within the Social Security System. The Pensioners find it difficult to get their funds; Welfare officials squander the Child Grant Funds; Youth is jobless and frustrated; to some, crime seems to be the solution while the political big shots are killing and corrupting the nation. Kabelo, a 16-year-old girl in 1986 left her 10-day-old daughter Rethabile for greener pastures aiming to find a rich husband. Sixteen years on after her disappearance, she returned home suffering from full-blown AIDS. The main aim was to tell Rethabile whom her father is, only to find herself in the harvest of thorns. The thorns get stronger and more painful as her investigations deepen.
