Hurricane Hands/Fish and Chips with Edith archiveThe Girl with the Hurricane Hands (and other short tales of woe) - Our differences define us, especially when we're growing up. But can you imagine growing up with hurricanes instead of hands? These short stories depict five children with unusual deformities. If being "too tall" was a difficult insult to contend with as a child, imagine what it would be like to be the girl with the hurricane hands, or the girl with the telescope eyes? Effortless verse combines with slick physical theatre in this performance for all ages. The Girl with The Hurricane Hands (and other short tales of woe) is a collection of five rhyming short stories focusing on the birth, childhood and adolescence of a child with an absurdist "deformity" - usually a result of a strange conception. Upcoming writer/director Phoebe Simmonds brings her unique style, writing in verse and directing physical theatre to bring us this exhilarating piece. Developed with The National Youth Theatre of Great Britain and Sharon Clark (literary associate of the Bristol Old Vic). Fish and Chips with Edith - Edith Malone is an icon. Eddie and Carolyn Kaufmann are not. Bitter and ordinary, proud owners of a dysfunctional marriage and a neatly mowed lawn, the Kaufmanns never associate with their celebrity grandmother and she certainly never considers associating with them. But even icons don't last forever. The passing of Edith Malone prompts a variety of bizarre events for this small and disjointed family from suburbia?culminating in a particularly unique portion of fish and chips. Fish and Chips with Edith offers an absurdist and comedic take on celebrity, family and contemporary perceptions of grief. With an original soundtrack and multimedia footage of a world in mourning, this tongue-in-cheek comedy is not one to miss.
