Koltes' play draws The Client to The Dealer in the twilight. Will one say what he has to sell? Can the other tell him what he wants? Negotiation begins, and with it a kind of power. In the tension between desire and consummation, Koltes shows that the defining relationship of late 20th century society is perhaps that between buyer and seller.
