The simmering obsessive lust of Strindberg's Miss Julie for her serving man Jean is translated by Phil Willmott into a sultry gay master, servant encounter. For a few chaotic days in 1926 Britain's working class went on strike and the upper class youths took over the jobs they'd abandoned. In The Master's Boy, a blistering sexual power struggle ensues between a striker and the wealthy young man attempting to drive his bus. The play is both a fascinating period piece and an exploration of gay lust and love as a weapon of subjugation. Running time 1hr 10mins
