May archiveCelebrate over 100 years of the women's suffrage movement by meeting May Billinghurst - one of those who fought for it. May is a one woman show based on the life of ?the crippled suffragette' May Billinghurst, whose story has been widely ignored by the history books. Using original letters and extracts between May Billinghurst, her family, and other Suffragettes including Emmeline Pankhurst, May offers an exploration of the constricts facing women, the repression of LGBTQ individuals and the restricted lives of disabled people, in the claustrophobic Edwardian era.
