Launched in 2010, rep theatre company Le Nouveau Guignol exists to revive the classic plays of Paris's "Theatre of Horror" and to encourage new work in the same genre. Set at the end of a sordid alleyway in Pigalle, the original Theatre du Grand-Guignol shocked and thrilled French audiences with its nightly offerings of blood, sweat and spunk for over sixty years until it fell victim to the new craze for cinema.
