In a quiet picnic area deep in the woods, a honeymooning couple have set up camp. Suddenly a man enters, staggering through the forest with a suitcase in his hand and a knife in his back. The intruder falls dead on the picnic table and the couple's lives are changed forever. But that is only half the fun. Backstage a riot is unleashed! As half the audience watch Picnic, the other half watch what is going on 'backstage' - a comedy of actors arrive late, cables are crossed, lamps explode and yet they still have time to get up to all sorts of mischief - all with hilarious results. This spectacle of theatre, set outdoors and seating 800 people allows half the audience to watch Picnic and the other half to watch the backstage shows simultaneously. After the interval, the audience watches the part of the show they heard but haven't yet already seen! Running time 2 hours.
