Lancashire at the turn of the sixteenth century and King James' obsession with the eradication of witches is casting a long shadow right across his kingdom. In a climate of fear and paranoia, a rural community is torn apart through allegations of Witchcraft and murder. For magistrate Roger Nowell, his involvement in the famous Pendle Witch Trials will have profound consequences for the rest of his life.
