Possession - a god-led lunacy but at the same time a diabolical condition when man plummets to the level of beast, red in tooth and claw under the thin veneer of civilisation. Witch-hunts, Nazi rallies, Mao's Cultural Revolution, lynch-mob mentality are examples of the "herd-intoxication" in the name of religion, political ideals or ethnic cleansing.
