After the 2nd world war, the first wave of migration from the Indian sub-continent to the UK took place, with many settling in the North East. These immigrants were pathfinders, explorers to a new land of strange dialects, weird customs and terrible weather. Despite hardship and privations many stayed and made a life for themselves.
