Scars Upon My Heart

"I wondered if he was looking up at the same moon, far away, thinking of me as I was thinking of him." A new piece of writing based on the life of Vera Brittain, using her own words and the poetry of female poets of the First World War. Vera Brittain studied at Oxford until the Great War led to the loss of her sweatheart and her brother Edward, which changed her attitudes and belief forever. She took up a career as a nursing auxiliary at the Devonshire Hospital in Buxton. This three hander from Hush Hush Theatre Company uses Vera's poetry, letters and diaries to document her early life.
