After losing her husband in the First World War, Lady Billingham is overcome with grief. Her maid convinces her to meet a Medium - the seance that ensues reveals an apparition of the dead husband to the young widow. Henceforward the ghost of the dead captain haunts the woman and she cannot escape his voice insisting that they should be together, forever. Mad with grief she must choose between life alone or death with her husband.
