Showing that panto should not be constrained to the Christmas period, Portobello Panto creates punk rock and roll pantomimes by updating traditional fairytales to the modern, urban setting. Somewhere Over the Westway is a darkly comedic take on The Wizard of Oz, which swaps 'the Yellow Brick Road' for the 'Bello Brick Road' and follows a heavily pregnant Dorothy on her journey to find The Wizard. Through the traditional pantomime art forms of physical comedy, music, dance and satire, the show critiques current social stereotypes and playfully pokes fun at contemporary society, particularly the modern day 'cult of celebrity'. Famed for surprise celebrity appearances by the likes of Lily Allen, Ray Winstone and Miquita Oliver, Portobello Panto will be taking their sell-out comical take on the Wizard of Oz, Somewhere Over the Westway, to the world famous Edinburgh Fringe Festival this summer.
